Professor E.L.Feinberg:
-
Dear friends, dear colleagues, ladies and gentelmen!
Having a questionable advantage and dubious privilege of being the oldest living member of the
Theory Department, participating in its work for 69 years. I have been offered by the Organizing
Committee to tell you quite briefly something about history of our Department on its origin and
on its life during 70 years of its existence.
Let us recall the main features of the period of its formation - the end of 1934, - both, of social
life in this country and of the situation in our science, as well as on crucial events in world
physics in the same period...

In conjunction with the International Conference on Theoretical Physics being held in the
Lebedev Institute, there will be free public lectures, which should be of interest to a general
scientific audience and to many members of the general public.
Public lectures will be held on Sunday, April 17, 2005, at 10.00 am.
They are open to everyone and admission is free.
Lecturers:
Juan Maldacena (Inst. for Advanced Study, Princeton)
Black Holes and the Structure of Space-Time
Valery Rubakov (Inst. for Nuclear Research, Moscow)
Dark Matter and Dark Energy in the Universe
Public Lectures are organized and sponsored by the Dmitry Zimin Dynasty
Foundation (Russia), one of the first Russian family foundations (www.dynastyfdn.com), which
specializes in support and promotion of fundamental research
