The XIVth International Workshop on High Energy Physics and Quantum Field Theory (QFTHEP'99) will be held in Moscow from May 27 till June 2, 1999. It continues a series of QFTHEP workshops started in 1985 by the Institute of Nuclear Physics, Moscow State University and conceived with the purpose of presenting topics of current interest and providing a stimulating environment for scientific discussion on new developments in particle physics. Traditionally the list of workshop attendees includes not only world known experts but also a large number of active young scientists and students from Russia and other countries.
The Workshop QFTHEP'99 will be organized jointly by the Institute of Nuclear Physics, Moscow State University and I.E.Tamm Theory Department of the Lebedev Physical Institute. It will take place in Moscow at the Conference Complex of the Central Tourist House.

The QFTHEP'99 Worksop will cover a wide range of topics in both theoretical and experimental high energy physics, as well as methodological problems in teaching quantum physics. This will allow participants to combine stimulating discussions of new results in specific areas of the physics of fundamental interactions with exchange of ideas among theorists, phenomenologists and teachers.

Scientific program

The Workshop will include plenary and three parallel afternoon sessions:
  • modern trends in quantum field theory;
  • recent experimental results and physics at future colliders;
  • methodological problems in teaching quantum and elementary particle physics.
The plenary sessions will consist of invited lectures. The afternoon sessions will include original talks.
The main topics to be covered are:

I. The present status of Standard Model and new results from HERA, LEP2 and TEVATRON.

II. Physics at upgraded TEVATRON, LHC and TeV linear e+ e-, e-gamma and gamma-gamma colliders:
  • phenomenology of the t-quark;
  • phenomenology of the scalar bosons at TeV energies;
  • phenomenology of gauge bosons at TeV energies;
  • search for new particles and new interactions.
III. Physical models for TeV energy scale:
  • SUSY extensions of the Standard Model, problem of evaluating particle masses;
  • Kaluza-Klein theories of particle interactions;
  • composite models;
  • superstring inspired models.
IV. Modern trends in the theory of fundamental interactions:
  • strings, branes and M-theory;
  • string actions on non-flat backgrounds;
  • supersymmetry, supergravity;
  • conformal theories, AdS - conformal correspondence;
  • higher-spin gauge theories;
  • dualities and non-perturbative aspects;
  • quantization problems.
V. Modern computational methods in theoretical high energy physics:
  • problems of automation in calculation of Feynman diagrams;
  • new methods of calculating (multi)loop integrals;
  • applications of computer algebra methods and their development.
VI. Methodological problems in teaching quantum physics at universities and in higher schools.

The working language at the Workshop will be English.

Contributions and Proceedings
Talks will be selected by the Organizing Committee on the basis of abstracts to be submitted before April 20, 1999.
The Workshop Proceedings will be published, a special circular with the instructions for authors will be sent out later.

Participation fee
The registration fee is 250 USD for participants and 150 USD for accompanying persons payable in cash upon arrival only. It includes Proceedings, welcome party, banquet, coffee-breaks and local transportation. A full-board accommodation at the Central Tourist House will cost about 40 USD per day.
Participation of students in the Workshop is strongly encouraged. Registration fee for students is 100 USD. However, this does not include the banquet and the Proceedings.
The Organizing Committee will be trying to provide financial support for participants from Russia and former Soviet Union States, as we always did last years.

Social program
The Organizing Committee is planning to arrange a sightseeing of Moscow, visits to the museums, theatres, etc. and to the famous sites in the countryside for extra charge. A special social program for the accompanying persons can also be organized.

Travel
The arrival day is May 26, the departure day is June 2 (afternoon).
